Frequently asked Questions

Have a question burning in your mind? Here's some of our most common topics.

Are your candles completely chemical free?

Short answer- no. Deep philosophical answer- we use safe synthetics. All components in our products EXCLUDE things like phthalates, parabens, carcinogens, and anything listed on California's Prop 65 (The Proposition 65 List - OEHHA (ca.gov), Which leads to the next question...

What makes your candles cleaner?

We only use waxes and fragrance oils free from things like these:

✖ Carcinogens: These are materials known or thought to cause cancer.

✖ Mutagens: Materials that change the DNA of a cell, harming the cell and causing diseases like cancer.

✖ Reproductive toxins: Toxins that adversely affect reproductive organs and increase the risk of birth defects.

✖ Organ toxins: These are toxins that can cause adverse effects or disease within specific bodily organs.

✖ Acute toxins: Toxins that can cause adverse effects from a single exposure. Generally, this would be accidental exposure like spillage or ingestion.

I burned my candle, now the top looks rough. Is that normal?

Yes, that is perfectly normal for a soy candle!

Are your candles made from 100% soy wax?

Yes, the wax we use is 100% American-grown, kosher soy, with zero additives!

What is your return policy?

Unhappy with a candle you purchased from us? Sorry to hear that! We'd be happy to exchange or refund any new, unused items purchased within the last thirty (30) days.

Your business is based out of Conroe, TX. Why do you have a different address listed on your website?

Great question! Yes, we are based out of Conroe, but we hired a registered agent in Austin TX, to ensure a little more privacy for our family business!

Why the name Crunchy Mama?

Long story short- through a series of life-altering events, I came to realize that my health, and that of my family, is incredibly important. From not thinking twice about what foods I consumed or what products I allowed into my home, all the way to researching and educating myself on more natural options and even making things myself, I'm so very proud of the progress I've made in choosing better things for my family. Yes, that includes the little things, like candles!

My candle doesn't smell as strong as a store-bought candle. Why?

Store-bought candles typically have additives that increase the scent throw. Our candles have zero additives, so you have one less thing to worry about in your home.

What is the difference between soy and paraffin wax?

Soy wax is a vegetable-based wax; paraffin is a petroleum-based wax, usually a by-product of the refining process petroleum goes through.

Soy emits less soot and is non-toxic; paraffin emits black soot and is known to have carcinogenic compounds.

Soy burns at a lower temp; paraffin burns hotter (aka if tiny fingers get too curious, soy wax *should* be less injurious than paraffin wax. But PLEASE ensure you burn candles out of reach of tiny people.).

What exactly is a crunchy mom?

A crunchy mom is a mother (obviously) who leans toward more natural, holistic ideas and methods in most areas of life. It's the ideology of deciding what is best for your own family, and not relying on the societal "norms". It looks different for each mom, but the heart-cry is always the same- doing what is best for her family.
